PParishioners at Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in Los Angeles avoided a complete disruption of their service by kicking abortion rights activists out of the church.
About five protesters, dressed in red robes and white bonnets, can be seen in a video posted to Twitter trying to make their way to the altar during the 10 a.m. cathedral mass on Sunday before a few parishioners jumped from their pews to block the demonstrators. Security quickly came to escort the activists out of the church.
“The incident was handled accordingly by Cathedral security, ensuring a limited disruption of Mass,” said Yannina Diaz, spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Washington Examiner. “We continue to join in our prayers as an Archdiocese in solidarity with the U.S. Catholic Bishops to pray for a change in our laws to help all women in need in our communities.”
In the video, a man is heard telling protesters that they would not be allowed to attack anyone.

“You are attacking me right now. You started attacking me,” one woman replied.
As the demonstrators walked out, parishioners could be heard telling them to respect mass.
One protester responded by shouting, “We want respect.
“You want respect. We want respect,” said a parishioner as he ushered the protesters out. “I promise you that I understand you perfectly.”
As they walked out, another protester moved to the front of the church through a side aisle before other parishioners blocked it.
“I have the right as an American,” she shouted as she was led out of the church. “Get your hands off me.”
Amid the scuffle, a priest can be heard in the background saying, “Brothers and sisters, I invite you to stay calm and refocus on the Eucharist we are celebrating.”

Demonstrations were expected in churches across the country after groups, such as Ruth sent us, launched appeals to protest against the Supreme Court’s early annulment of Roe vs. Wade following a leak of a majority opinion draft in Dobbs v. Women’s Health Organization, which indicated that the Supreme Court had voted to return the management of the legality of abortion to the states.
