The Queen was forced to miss church as she relied on doctors’ advice, according to reports.

Her Majesty was expected at All Saints Chapel in Windsor, but reportedly missed the service.

She is believed to be saving her energy for the COP26 eco-summit in Glasgow which she is due to attend next Monday.

It comes after the monarch was forced to spend the night in hospital after being admitted for precautionary tests earlier in the week.

The 95-year-old has also canceled a planned trip to Northern Ireland.

Royal author Angela Levin told The Sun: “I’m glad she didn’t go to church because maybe she’s listening and accepting a temporary step back.

“Going to church on a Sunday seems like a small event, but it is a very big thing for the Queen and for any woman her age.

“She is very religious and it is personally very important to her to go to church every Sunday.”

But Ms Levin said the trip was exhausting and thought it reasonable for the Queen to miss the service so she could do more in the future.

Buckingham Palace sources did not dispute the report last night that the Queen had missed church saying she had been told to rest.

Following her visit to hospital earlier this week, a Palace spokesperson said: ‘Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen visited hospital on Wednesday afternoon for preliminary enquiries, returning to Windsor Castle at midday today and remaining in high spirits. ”

Royal doctors are said to have acted with an “understandably cautious approach”, with one source saying the Queen’s overnight stay was due to “practical reasons” due to the 26-mile return journey to Windsor Castle.
