Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin arrives in London, where it will be transported to Buckingham Palace
Members of King Charles III’s staff are said to have received notice of dismissal during the service of thanksgiving for Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.
According to The Guardian, dozens of Charles’ employees at Clarence House may be out of work as he and the Queen consort move into Buckingham Palace. The outlet shared that up to 100 staff are at risk with private secretaries, the finance office, the communications team and house staff positions on the line.
The outlet reported that several employees assumed they would be going with Charles to Buckingham Palace and were unaware their positions were in jeopardy until they received a letter from Sir Clive Alderton, the chief aide to the King, at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh on Monday.

The Guardian obtained the letter, which they report read: “The change in role for our directors will also mean a change for our household… The portfolio of work previously undertaken in this household supporting personal interests, former activities and domestic operations of the former Prince of Wales will no longer be carried out, and housekeeping… at Clarence House will be closed, so it is expected that the need for positions primarily based at Clarence House, whose work supports these areas, will no longer be necessary.
Alderton added: “I appreciate this is troubling news and wanted to let you know of the support available at this stage.”

Our staff have given long and loyal service and, while some redundancies will be unavoidable, we are working urgently to identify alternative roles for as many staff as possible.”
